THE GH HEALTH & SAFETY LTD
FREE DEFIBRILLATORS FOR SCHOOLS AND CLUBS INITIATIVE 2008
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Christopher Harold, General manager of GH Health & Safety Ltd. Since 1994 my company, formerly GH Health, Safety & Training Consultants has provided Irish businesses with a professional, efficient and cost effective way to manage their safety. Our clients range from small businesses to medium sized businesses to global companies like Timberland. To read our full company history please log on to www.ghsafety.ie.
This initiative was invented in May of 2008 and with the help of you and your employees will help protect the lives of this country’s youth.
What I propose to do is provide each Primary and Secondary school, and each local club (Rugby, Soccer, Hurling, Camogie, Gaelic Football, Golf & Swimming pool) in Munster with a free defibrillator by December of this year.
Defibrillators vary in price but a reliable one with a good battery could cost €3000. Many schools and sports clubs cannot generate enough funds to purchase their own defibrillator and as a result, young men and women all over the country are in danger whilst playing the sport that they love.
I want to give a free defibrillator to each school and club in Ireland but I cannot afford to do so. What I can afford to do is train 5 people in each school or club how to operate their free defibrillator at cost price. I can also use my power within the Health and Safety Industry to source quality defibrillators at discounted prices. To purchase 1000 or 10,000 will be cheaper per unit than the purchase of 100 defibrillators.
I will give one defibrillator and training for five people to Mr Kevin Hehir, Headmaster of St. Tola’s primary school in Shannon Co.Clare. St Tola’s and its staff have made my primary school years very enjoyable and it’s with great pleasure that I give something back.
You may do the same, if you could choose one school or club in Munster that you would like to support, you too can protect the safety of its children/members.
The GH Health & Safety Ltd team and I will spend the next six months running an advertising campaign that I will pay for and manage. This campaign will be larger than Munster has seen, however I need your help to keep the momentum going.
There has already been a great response to my Free defibrillators for schools and clubs initiative, I do believe that by December 1st 2008, maybe even the start of the next school year that every child in school and/or playing sports in Munster may be able to do so in a safe environment.
